Roof Insurance Claims Help in Montana

Roof insurance claims in Montana come down to documentation, and that is the part we are built for. We are a roofing contractor, not a public adjuster, so we do not negotiate your claim or promise what your insurer will pay. What we do is fly a drone survey that photographs every strike and every damaged slope before anyone else touches the roof, write a detailed repair scope, and meet your adjuster on site so the damage we documented gets seen in person. The photos are yours from day one.

Why documentation decides how a claim goes

An adjuster can only pay for damage that is demonstrated. Roofs get inspected weeks after a storm, evidence weathers, and a walkthrough under time pressure misses things. A close-range drone survey taken early fixes the roof's condition in time: dated images of every slope, every strike circle, every lifted tab, every dented vent. When your file contains that record plus a line-item scope from a licensed Montana contractor, the conversation with your insurer is about photographs and measurements instead of recollections. We build that file for you before the claim is ever opened, as part of the same drone survey we include with every estimate.

What we do, and what we do not do

Knowing the boundary protects you. Sisu documents damage, writes the repair scope, meets the adjuster on your roof to walk them through what the drone found, and performs the approved work to manufacturer spec. We do not act as a public adjuster, interpret your policy, negotiate your settlement, or promise an outcome. And we never offer to cover or absorb a deductible; in Montana, as elsewhere, that practice is illegal, and a contractor who offers it is telling you how they do business. Your claim is between you and your insurer. Our job is making sure it is decided on complete evidence.

  • We do: drone documentation, written scope, on-site adjuster meeting, the repair itself
  • We do not: negotiate settlements, interpret policy language, or promise approval
  • We never: offer to waive, absorb, or rebate a deductible

The adjuster meeting

You are entitled to have your contractor present when the adjuster inspects. We attend, bring the drone imagery and the marked-up scope, and point out each documented area so nothing gets missed because it was hard to see from a ladder. Adjusters handle dozens of roofs after a valley storm; a contractor who arrives with organized, slope-by-slope photos makes their inspection faster and more thorough at the same time. If the adjuster's scope and ours differ, you will have both documents and the photographs, which puts you in a position to ask your insurer informed questions.

When we'd tell you not to file

  • The damage is cosmetic. Scuffed granules without mat bruising, or a few dented vents, may cost less to fix than your deductible.
  • The repair scope comes in near or under your deductible. Paying out of pocket keeps a claim off your record for damage the policy barely touches.
  • The roof was already at end of life. Insurers pay for storm damage, not wear, and an adjuster can tell the difference. So can we, and we will say so first.
  • You have filed recent claims. Another small one may affect your renewal more than the repair is worth. That math is yours to run, but you should run it before filing.

What homeowners say about Sisu insurance claims

Kalispell and Flathead Valley homeowners, in their own words.

Ben and his team provided excellent communication and service. They were in and out and a couple of days tearing off and replacing a steep roof. We will use them again for future roofing needs on our homes.

Insurance Claims: questions we actually get

Should I call a roofer or my insurance company first after storm damage?

Documenting before filing is usually the better order. A drone survey establishes the roof's condition with dated photos and produces a written scope, so you know whether the damage is worth a claim at all. Filing first means deciding blind, and a claim stays on your record whether or not it pays.

Are you a public adjuster?

No. We are a roofing contractor, MT License 400855IC. Public adjusters negotiate settlements on a homeowner's behalf and are licensed separately for that work. Our role is documentation, a written repair scope, meeting your adjuster on site, and doing the repair. Your policy and settlement stay between you and your insurer.

Will my insurance cover a full roof replacement?

That depends on your policy and what the adjuster finds, and no contractor can honestly promise an outcome. What we control is the evidence. Thorough slope-by-slope documentation gives your insurer an accurate picture of the damage, and the written scope shows what a proper repair actually involves.

A contractor offered to cover my deductible. Is that normal?

It happens after every big storm, and it is illegal. Deductible waivers and rebates are insurance fraud, and the money gets made back somewhere, usually in the quality of your roof. Treat the offer as a reason to choose someone else. We will not do it, and no reputable Montana contractor will.

Do I have to use the contractor my insurance company suggests?

No. In Montana you choose your own contractor. Insurer networks can be convenient, but you are free to hire a local roofer who documented your damage, wrote the scope, and will be in the valley long after the claim closes. We are happy to work alongside whatever process your insurer uses.
