Why a roofing crew is a good siding crew

Almost every siding failure we see starts where the roof meets the wall. Kickout flashing that was never installed, step flashing buried behind the cladding, gutters dumping onto a lower wall. A siding crew that has never worked a roof tends to treat those spots as someone else's problem. We flash them the way we would on a roof job. What drives the cost of new siding

We price every siding job from the walkthrough, not from a per-square guess over the phone. These are the factors that move the number:

• Material choice: LP SmartSide and metal carry different material and labor costs
• Wall area and stories, since staging and ladder work add labor
• Condition of the sheathing under the old cladding
• Trim scope: corners, window and door wraps, soffit and fascia
• Water management details like kickout flashing and gutter corrections
• Access, including steep sites and landscaping we need to protect

When we'd tell you to repaint instead of reside

• Your wood siding is sound and the only problem is failed paint. Prep and repaint costs a fraction of new siding and buys years.
• One wall is weathered but the boards are tight, flat, and dry. Paint the wall, save the reside for when it is actually needed.
• The damage traces back to a gutter or roof problem. Fix the water source first, or new siding will fail the same way.
• Your roof is the more urgent failure. Water comes from above, and a failing roof will ruin new siding from behind.
